Interested in understanding how people in addictive families often create a triangle of communication that keeps them stuck in unhealthy patterns of communicating and relating? Curious about how your emotional fitness impacts your recovery?

*Family Roles – how they are assigned, volunteered for or taken by default
*Karpman Triangle Model – identify what position(s) you typically take in your significant relationships and how to move into healthier communication patterns
*The concept of Congruency – why does it matter???
*Window of Tolerance – what it is, how it impacts your sobriety, how to widen it

Today I learned that I spend a lot more time in a dysregulated state than I realized. whoa. I tend towards the hypo-arousal end of the spectrum. Major take away today was that dysregulation is a yellow light for me to stop, check in with myself about what I might need, and then practice some self care.

Another helpful visual tool shared with us by Marcie today. How much of my energy/ time/ life/ joy am I willing spend with worry? How much are YOU willing to spend?

CONGRUENCE: When my thoughts, feelings, values and actions align. The more congruent I become, the less dependent I am on substances and behaviors to numb the pain of not being in alignment.
